Me and Jenny hiking Jan 1 |
Registration was Jan 1, noon, Eastern time. It was almost impossible to register. The site kept crashing, because we have all heard that the race sells out in the first half hour. After over three hours of hitting the refresh button on the parunners.com site we finally tried a PC rather than continue on with a Mac, and it worked. Then we got Jenny registered, and checked in to make sure Nicole and Jim were signed up. We all signed up. Now the real work begins....lots of training!
A few hours later, I got this message:
You have registered for Bald Eagle Megatransect!
Congratulations! You are officially registered for the 2013 Megatransect! The course will again remain under wraps until the day of the event. The elevation profile and distance will be released sometime in August. Expect 25 to 27 miles with at least 5000 foot vertical.
Train consistently over the next 9 months. Your finisher’s medal will be a result of your commitment to prepare. There is a No refund, No exchange policy. Photo ID will be required in order to pick up your electronic bib number. 100% of all proceeds will be donated to local charities and nonprofit organizations.
Don’t fear the event, respect it. The Mega rewards those who train and punishes those who do not. To rise above this challenge one must only cross the finish line.

**Big thanks to Mark and my Dad for making this happen. I was ready to give up. Actually I was supposed to be at the Rose Parade during the sign up. I was planning to try it from my iPad. I am so thankful that we all decided to relax at home and watch the parade on TV. I would have been totally freaking out. As it was, I may have give up if Dad and Mark hadn't helped.
